How long does stucco last?

Properly applied stucco lasts from 50 to 100 years with proper maintenance.

What if my home is painted?

The existing paint is sandblasted because stucco will not bond to a painted surface. We can then proceed to apply a Portland Cement based stucco.

Can the stucco color be changed?

Yes, color can be added at the time of refinishing your home.

Can the texture of my stucco be changed?

Yes, sufficient coats of stucco can be applied and textured over an existing finish.

What are some of the advantages of stucco?

Stucco is a more durable finish that can prevent damage from wind or hail that other finishes may not absorb. It is also more fire resistant than other types of finishes. Stucco requires less maintenance than some other exterior finishes. And you can expect a quieter home with a stucco exterior due to its superior insulating qualities. Stucco provides moisture protection while also allowing your home to breathe. Finally, in long term cost analysis a stucco home provides the highest return on investment for the owner.

How thick is the stucco treatment?

This will vary depending on texture but the final two coats of stucco total approximately 1/8 to 3/16 –inches.

What is white-wash?

Getting your home "white-washed" is similar to getting your home painted. Typically when stucco is applied to an existing home there is a two-part process, a wash coat, and a texture coat. The problems that arise with only white-washing your home are the shortened life of the job, and the cost of future stucco repair and finishing. The reason stucco lasts so long is that the cement is also mixed with sand.
